Travellers-owned RWBCI Groundbreaks Bayshore City Resorts World Project
Resorts World Bayshore City, Inc. (RWBCI), developer and operator of Bayshore City Resorts World and 95% owned by Travellers International Hotel Group, Inc. (Travellers) held the groundbreaking rites for Bayshore City Resort World at the Entertainment City, Parañaque City. The groundbreaking formally commences actual construction and development of the second Resorts World property in the country, the completion of which is targeted in the last quarter of 2018.
The 31-hectare Bayshore City Resorts World will complete the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation’s (PAGCOR) Entertainment City comprised of four integrated resorts, expected to significantly contribute positively to Philippine Tourism in the coming years.
Projected to have at least 1,500 hotel rooms operated by international brands which include “The Westin Hotel Manila Bayshore” of the Starwood Asia Pacific Hotels & Resorts group, the “Hotel Okura Manila” of the Okura Hotels & Resorts and the “Genting Grand” and “Crockfords Tower” of the Genting group, the luxury development will also boast a 3,000-seater grand Opera House, an upscale commercial complex, condominiums, cinemas, food and beverage outlets, and MICE facilities.
Resorts World Manila, the first Travellers-owned and operated property in Pasay, is also currently undergoing expansion projects, most significantly with the construction of the Marriott Grand Ballroom, Marriott West Wing, Sheraton Hotel Manila, Hilton Hotel Manila, Maxims Annex, and an enhanced gaming area with increased capacity.
“Travellers’ 95% ownership of RWBCI effectively makes us the biggest leisure and entertainment company in the Philippines. Combined, the two properties will offer potentially a total of approximately 5,100 hotel rooms,” said Travellers president Kingson Sian. “With the current developments at both Resorts World Manila and Bayshore City Resorts World properties, Travellers continues to push the envelope in the integrated resort industry as it will be the only player in the country to house Marriott, Sheraton, Hilton, and Westin hotels which are the top choices for business travelers when it comes to the best loyalty programs for its guests, according to Fortune Magazine.”
Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez said, “For the City of Parañaque, this means not only more jobs for our residents and more revenues for the local government. More importantly, this means we are getting closer to becoming one of the biggest tourist and entertainment destinations not only in the Philippines, but in the entire Asia-Pacific region.”
Also in attendance was PAGCOR Chairman & CEO Cristino L. Naguiat, Jr. who said, “It all started with Resorts World Manila in 2009. And now, here we are witnessing the birth of a second Resorts World. When completed, Entertainment City will have one of the highest concentrations of tourism-oriented investments and hospitality employment in the country. Exciting times, indeed.”
