Phase 2 Expansion
Phase 2 of Resorts World Manila in expected to expand upon the existing Marriott Hotel Manila with the Marriott Grand Ballroom as well as with additional rooms through the Marriott West Wing. A major objective of the Phase 2 expansion is to further increase visitation, particularly non-peak traffic, through the planned new non-gaming facilities, which in turn will increase traffic for Resorts World Manila’s existing gaming operations.
The Marriott Grand Ballroom
Grand Ballroom Show Time
The Company is currently developing the Marriott Grand Ballroom, with the aim of creating the premiere exhibition, convention, and meeting space within Metro Manila. The Marriott Grand Ballroom is expected to feature an aggregate of approximately 11,000 sq. m. on ground area and approximately 126,000 sq. m. in built-up space, and will be designed to host exhibitions, conventions, weddings, and other large-scale events. The Marriott Grand Ballroom is expected to feature seating capacity of up to 2,000 as well as four independent function spaces, two boardrooms, six VIP breakaway rooms, 17 meeting rooms, and two wedding chapels, which provide a variety of configurations of events and meetings of varying sizes. The Marriott Grand Ballroom has also been designed to feature a number of F&B outlets as well as 1,532 additional underground parking spaces to be located beneath the structure across six basement levels. The Marriott Grand Ballroom will be located adjacent to the Marriott Hotel Manila and the Marriott West Wing, and has been designed to connect to both by a footbridge featuring a moving walkway. The Marriott Grand Ballroom is expected to be operated by RHICI, under management agreement with the Company. Excavation related to the Marriott Grand Ballroom began in March 2011 and construction at the site is expected to be completed by the end of 2014.
The Marriott West Wing
The Company is currently developing the Marriott West Wing, a 10-storey annex to the Marriott Hotel Manila with approximately 3,000 sq. m. in ground area which is expected to add 227 rooms across approximately 31,000 sq. m. of built-up space, catering primarily to VIP guests and Marriott rewards members. The Marriott West Wing is expected to feature 29 junior suites and one presidential suite, a VIP all day dining facility, a Chinese restaurant, bar and lounge and business facilities, pool, gym and spa facility, and a golf terrace offering direct access to the Villamor golf course. The Marriott West Wing is also expected to be connected to the main Marriott Hotel Manila, the planned Marriott Grand Ballroom and other parts of Resorts World Manila by a footbridge. The Marriott West Wing will include 127 additional parking spaces across three basement decks. The Marriott West Wing is expected to be operated by RHICL under a management agreement with the Company. Excavation at the Marriott West Wing site began in July 2013. The Marriott West Wing is expected to be completed by the end of 2015.
